Winnica Nad Dworskim Potokiem
'Nad Dworskim Potokiem' Vineyard
The 'Nad Dworskim Potokiem' Vineyard is an Agricultural Experimental Plant and belongs to Jagiellonian University. It is located in Łazy near Bochnia. The first vines were planted here in 2005– the vineyard's main strains are Hibernal, Seyval, Bianca and Muscat, Marechal Foch, Regent and Rondo. In the beginning, the plantation area was 30 acres, today it is more than 3.5 hectares. The vineyard occupies a section of the southern slope behind the monastery farm buildings. Cultivation is dominated by relatively resistant hybrid strains, well-tested in the conditions of southern Poland, although a few rows of Vitis vinifera were also planted on a trial basis. Next to the vineyard is the winery building and a laboratory – in addition to wine production, classes are also held there as part of a postgraduate course in oenology, which was offered by the university for several years. The well-known Polish winemaker Adam Kiszka is in charge of the vineyard. This is the first vineyard in Poland to register the production and sale of its wines. They are available in the shop on the premises of the vineyard.
