Lamus Branice Manor

Dwór Branice

A similar bipartite layout is found on the first floor, covered by a beamed larch ceiling. The roof is covered by an attique with arcades and a crenellated ridge, the characteristic toothed finial of a defensive wall. The elevation is decorated with sgraffito bossage, typical of the Renaissance, which was intended to imitate natural stone masonry. The modernisation of the family residence was carried out by the famous Santi Gucci workshop. The artist is the author of, among others, the tombstones of King Zygmunt August and Anna Jagiellonka in the Zygmuntowska Chapel of the Wawel Cathedral. The craftsmanship of the masters in Santi Gucci’s circle is evident in the late-Renaissance carved fireplace made of Pińczów limestone and marked with the date ‘1603’. The portal (frame of the entrance door) decorated with acanthus leaves, a volute, and the cartouche of the Branickis’ coat of arms, the Gryf, is also masterfully executed. The Italian geometric garden was probably also created at this time.
